Live Painting Performances
An important aspect of Lavia’s art is the action, ‘the moment of creation’, namely live painting. She first began performing live painting in 2017, with the invitation by the Italian Band Satoyama, to paint at their concerts live. Performing live painting during concerts challenges her own spontaneity and her ability to be an attentive listener. She has her own ‘musical’ instruments-paints and brushes.
Aside from her long-term collaboration with Satoyama, Lavia has performed with other international music artists in different genres ranging from jazz, ambient, improvisation, original singer songwriter to classical music, with the aim of bringing together different cultures by connecting visual arts and music. Satoyama meets Lavia Lin
The band Satoyma from Turin, Italy bounded with Lavia Lin, the Berlin based artist from Shanghai, China for their mutual passion for life and interest in diverse cultures. Based on their common understanding, they decide to work on a project together where Lavia paints to Satoyama’s music, a live painting experience with live music. Through this project, they wish to create an intimate dialogue between the two art forms-music and painting to connect the two different cultures together.
