Live Painting Performances
An important aspect of Lavia’s art is the action, ‘the moment of creation’, namely live painting. She first began performing live painting in 2017, with the invitation by the Italian Band Satoyama, to paint at their concerts live. Performing live painting during concerts challenges her own spontaneity and her ability to be an attentive listener. She has her own ‘musical’ instruments-paints and brushes.
Aside from her long-term collaboration with Satoyama, Lavia has performed with other international music artists in different genres ranging from jazz, ambient, improvisation, original singer songwriter to classical music, with the aim of bringing together different cultures by connecting visual arts and music. Satoyama meets Lavia Lin
Satoyama + Lavia Lin is a project by Satoyama, the Italian band from Turin, with a Japanese name and Lavia Lin, the Berlin artist from Shanghai with an Italian name. The project of ‘Satoyama Meets Lavia’ was born in 2017, where the colourful sounds of Satoyama was given a visual recording, sounds lingered and memory preserved through the art of Lavia. Together, they performed in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at Jazzit Fest in Feltre, Italy and in Berlin. They recently toured in Europe, in Austria, Denmark, Czech republic and Germany presenting their newest album ‘’Sinking Islands’’ with the aim to raise awareness of climate change, of the rising ocean and the harsh reality that unites all known and unknown islands.
Satoyama use melody to get in contact with the soul of the
people, the poetic arts and emotions transported onto the canvas by Lavia, engage the audience with visual abstraction in music.

Jazz Paintings
Growing up in my family’s jazz bar in Shanghai, music has always been an essential part of my life. ''Jazz Paintings'' is an ongoing project dedicated to jazz standards, where I translate sound into color and movement. Music speaks to my emotions, and I respond with paint—letting my arms flow with the melody as my heart dances to the rhythm.

Workshops
Since 2024, Lavia has been facilitating interdisciplinary workshops that blend dance, singing, and painting in collaboration with fellow creatives. A highlight of this work is the ''Move in Colors '' workshop series with dancer Elsa Rousson. These workshops are designed to create a stress-free, playful space for creative expression, bringing art and movement into everyday life. Lavia’s workshops often feature collaborations with other artists, fostering a dynamic and immersive creative experience. Aside from creative workshops, Lavia also facilitates and co-curates tea culture workshops, fostering mindfulness and human connection through shared moments over a cup of tea
Art Residency
In 2023, I participated in the Szent András Kastély residency in Hungary, an inspiring retreat for artists to create, reflect, and connect. Surrounded by nature and history, the residency provided a unique space for artistic exploration, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
